Workshops UPDATE...

I'm posting up some of the latest workshop pictures today - 'Painting with Fibres' continues to be a really popular day, with some quite remarkable results! As I've mentioned before this workshop is for all abilities and some of these pictures, like the Pumpkin & Sunflower are first pieces...

Everyone brings along a picture, photo or design as a starting point and these are as varied as the examples here - flower designs, water colour sketches, abstract paintings and a William de Morgan tile design...

It's an opportunity to experiment with pre-felts and blend colour & texture. Most of the pictures featured here were taken at the end of the workshop. The next stage is to machine stitch, hand embroider and embellish the felt, as Ruth has done here with this design (her very first piece of felt) she then went on to make the matching bowl. There's more 'Paintings with Fibres' here.

I've added a new workshop date for 'Painting with Fibres' in Freshwater on the 17th March (details here) and I'm also doing a similar workshop at Dimbola Museum on the 22nd February (details here). I've also been invited over to the other side of the island - to Brading Roman Villa - to hold a 'Painting with Fibres' workshop there on Sunday 18th March. This is a really exciting new venue for me and there's more details here.

I think a number of you must have had a new Kindle or I-Pad for Christmas as I have been asked how difficult is it to make a felt case for them ?

So I've arranged a "Felt Kindle/I-Pad Case" workshop on March 24th in Freshwater. This actually is a perfect first project for those wanting to learn how to felt a seamless shape using a resist. These felt covers make great presents, they're not difficult to make and I reckon we would also have plenty of time and materials to make a small matching I-Pod or phone case in the same workshop…

Let me know if you are interested and there's more booking details here.
